Where to Find Immediate Math Help

Math is not easy for me. It takes me a lot of brain power to understand and learn math. Math education was not my strong point either. It took me extra hours, tutoring and lots of math games to help me learn math. I'm talking about high school math. You know geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and the like. More than that, I remember having to sit for long hours trying to figure out how to study or do my math homework without my dad's help. I would get Math Anxiety, and my palms would sweat and my heart would flutter and I would write, erase, write, erase and the list goes on.

Now I find my same frustrations may be passed on to my kids. I have a son in High School that is having a little trouble in geometry. I did not want him to have the same math anxieties I experienced. I did not want him to choose a major in college based on "lack of confidence" in math. When he came home from school and said he wanted to be tutored, I quickly started to research this option.

Much to my dismay, all the usual tutoring options were extremely expensive and self- motivated. My son is not self-motivated in math. I am not self-motivated in Math. How can I make his experience the best it could be, rewarding and maybe fun, or at least not so boring. How can I get him the quickest math education from the best math resources online? I stumbled across a huge list of excellent websites. Math.com, edhelper.com, Mathforum.com, Dr. Math, were all great and for many age groups. All that needs to be done is just "google" math help or math help now or whatever you are looking for. You will find a huge wonderful list of free help online. However, they were just math resources and did not actually teach math. I needed an entire math education. For me and my son! (I figure I had a lot to learn too).

I found two specific resources that you can get online that not only have some free give sources but also offer excellent math educations through eBooks, programs and self tutoring. I hope this shortens your search to find a great math resource online without breaking the bank. I also think you will find Math4uonline.info to be one of the most in depth and easy to understand. The second is a Vector Method and it teaches something I call "speed math". It is similar to speed reading and I believe it is the secret behind getting the student's confidence level up to a high level. Once you can do that with a child or student or yourself that is half the battle. Please check them all out. Until the next time!

Do Your Kids a Favor - Take Away the Calculator
The kids of today are so different from those of only a generation ago. Heck. I'm quite computer literate and am pretty good with electronic gadgets, but I can't even place a close second to my two kids' ability with video games and other technological toys. Yet this ability with gadgets has placed our children at a disadvantage as well. You see. They have come to lean too heavily on the electronic calculator, and this dependency has severely weakened their ability in math.

Teach Your Kids Algebra: The Quadratic Formula
When I first saw the quadratic formula, I was amazed that there existed such a thing no less a way to derive this elegant formula. For those who remember, this formula gives a sure-fire way of getting the solution to those things we call quadratic, or second-degree equations, in mathematics. For many students, this formula is a nightmare of grand proportions and its mastery seems no more probable than striking it rich with the lottery. However, with some novel techniques and some different approaches, the mastery of this formula—which provides a linchpin to understanding algebra on a deeper level—becomes a walk in the park.

The Magic of Mathematics
The following article details my love of mathematics and why I call mathematics "magical". In short, there are two sides of the Tao of Life, if you will, that we must keep in balance. On one side, we have reading and writing skills, that allow us to communicate with others. Very important, indeed. Yet, on the other side, we have mathematical skills which are the essence of logical analysis and decision-making skills that pertain to numbers and figures and charts and data.

Calculus: The Science of Fluxions
The science of fluxions was Sir Isaac Newton's terminology for the new field of science known today as calculus.
